| A department of Basic Education draft proposal allegedly states that some pupil could return to school as early as 6 May.
In what seems to be a battle of opinion regarding the 2020 school year, an expert has said it should be scrapped completely,while a Department of Basic Education (DBE) draft proposal-said to be leaked-states that the school year could resume in three weeks in time.
According to SowetanLIVE, the "back-to-school" instruction came from proposals contained in the DBE's draft post- COVID-19 lockdown recovery plan. However,when The South African contacted DBE spokesperson Elijah Mahlangu,he said he had no knowledge of document.
Pupil allegedly return to school on these dates.
According to the DBE, "draft proposal",South Africans pupils in grade 12 and Seven will be the first to return to school on 6 May-should President Cyril Ramaphosa ease the lockdown at the end of the month.

The document stated that the phased-in approach"will be closely managed and monitored" and that the next two grades will be brought in b
ased on how the school is coping with the management of the number of pupils,space and the hygienic requirements.

Grade 12s should really return to school so they can catch up and be able to get marks to apply for university
